In 17th Century Germany, a married Princess and a handsome Swedish Count embark on a doomed romance. Based on the romance between Philip Christoph von Konigsmarck and Sophia Dorothea of Celle, who was married to the Elector of Hanover, the man who was to subsequently become George I of Great Britain. As her marriage dissolved under the sexual disinterest of her husband, Sophia Dorothea turned to Count Philip. However, their affair did not pass unobserved and a high ranking enemy found a way to get revenge.
