San Diego's Channel 4 newsroom turns into a battleground when vain, chauvinistic news anchor Ron Burgundy is forced to work with smart, sassy reporter Veronica Corningstone. This being the 1970's, Ron is mortified by the idea of a woman stealing his on-air thunder. However, his real problem is that he reads aloud anything and everything on the autocue without first processing it in his head.
