If Admiral Frank Beardsley and Helen North had gotten together the first time around, they'd have had time to iron out their differences before the kids arrived. But each had been married before and neither had much of a notion about birth control; Beardsley was a widower with eight kids (eek!) and North had ten (eek eek!) So eighteen kids, raised in radically different ways had to find a way to live together. After the initial clash, the only thing they agreed on was that this marriage wasn't doing anybody any good.
