Working class boy Tony Manero spends all his salary on fancy clothes, gold jewellery and recreational drugs. He lives for Saturday night dancing in Manhattan because it's an escape from the tedium of everyday life. But can he break out of Brooklyn for good with the help of a classy girl? Best remembered now for Travolta's white suit and the Bee Gees soundtrack, the actual plot is surprisingly downbeat.
