Movie: Dreamgirls (2006)
In 1960s Detroit, hyper-ambitious car salesman Curtis Taylor Jr. is determined to conquer the music business. He recruits three talented teenage singers, Effie White, Deena Jones and Lorrell Robinson, and forms his own record company. Displaying the kind of ruthlessness that typically gets you places in the entertainment industry, Curtis demotes Effie and promotes her more marketable counterpart, Deena, to lead singer. Based on the hit Broadway musical of the same name.
