An epic romantic adventure based rather loosely on the life of William Wallace, a rebel warrior who led an army of Scottish commoners to battle in the late 13th century. The ruling English nobility have been granted "Prima Nocta" - a right to "take" all brides on their wedding night - so Wallace marries his lover Murron in secret. When the local Lord discovers this treachery, he murders Murron, inspiring Wallace to take up arms and use his charismatic leadership skills to head the fight for freedom.
