But when a married working-class couple (Michael Palin and Maggie Smith) discover that the town's wealthy elite has been secretly fattening up an illegally owned pig for their own selfish gluttony at a feast to celebrate the marriage of Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten, they hatch an outlandish kidnapping scheme that gives a new meaning to the phrase 'bringing home the bacon'. This classic from the golden age of British comedy won three BAFTA awards, including Best Actress for Dame Maggie Smith and Best Supporting Actor for Denholm Elliott.
