Movie: War Of The Buttons (1994)
Rival gangs of boys from neighbouring villages in Ireland's County Cork continue an age-old feud of upstaging each other in this remake of the 1962 French movie of the same name, based on the novel by Louis Pergaud. Fergus, of Ballydowse, leads the Bally Gang, while Jerome (aka Geronimo), of Carricksdowse, leads the Carricks. One day, the Bally boys decide to cut the buttons off the clothes of a bully in the Carricks; the Carricks hit back, cutting off the buttons off Fergus. Classified as a drama and comedy, this is a symbolic anti-war film, primarily aimed at a younger audience.
