The Moon Landing: 50th Anniversary

The Moon Landing: 50th Anniversary

It's been a cool fifty years since one of the coolest events of C20th history. After the ructions of that century, the Cold War produced a visceral competition between East and West, which played itself out in part in Outer Space. Sputnik showed what was possible, but it was the quest to put a man on the moon that was the real competition, and that was won by the USA in 1969. When Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took 'one small step' on the moon, they helped mankind take a 'giant leap' forward. Flying ace, Michael Collins, was tantalisingly close, but someone had to remain in the spaceship. This is the story of Apollo 11.
