When detective Michael Long narrowly survives a shot in the face, massively wealthy Wilton Knight has plans for him. Knight provides him with a new face and identity as Michael Knight. He also gets KITT, a brand new Pontiac Trans Am with special, computer controlled powers. Michael and KITT become Knight's personal vigilantes working for FLAG - the Foundation for Law and Government, bringing down malefactors and miscreants bent on malfeasance.
